I’m tired of Facebook Messenger. The problems with it are countless. Is it AI, or a group of hackers behind all the craziness?
I go to send someone a message. Where I enter their name I type the first letter. Strangers are suggested to me.
In Messenger where it shows your active people, I have people pop up I’ve never spoken with.
Additionally, Facebook is awarding me top fan badges for websites which I’ve never visited. Some of which I’m not following, nor have I liked.
Now It Gets Creepy
Messenger really got out of hand when I started to message the people who showed up as active that I didn’t recognize.
I asked the guy, “who is this?” Of course it was followed by an eerie “hello Chad,” as if they already knew me.
I kept pressing forward and eventually they told me “if you knew who this was you wouldn’t like it.” Oh great, here we go.
Now I’m freaked out.
They started to go on asking me why I was doing what I was with my life. Making fun of me almost.
It gets worse.
After telling me I was making bad choices, they explained to me what it is that they would like to see. As if I was asking?
“We just want to see you have a child.”
Goosebumps.
What the hell type cult Satanistic shit is this? That’s going too far.
Let me get this straight. Someone took the time to hack my Facebook, put their profile in my Messenger, then didn’t know if I would message them or not, and when I do they say this shit?
There are some weirdos out there. The internet is not safe.
Additional Problems
I’m a fan of checking my settings often, you know, to make sure no one has changed them.
I went into privacy and safety in Messenger and there’s a spot where you can check the encryption. You can see your logins.
Of course, not just me, but another device was on my account.
Who Is Reading the Messages?
Another strange thing that can’t be explained. You know how Facebook lets others know when you read the messages, and likewise?
On SOME accounts, Facebook will show THEIR photo underneath the message. As if it is trying to say they read their own message.
Makes no sense and I don’t know why someone hasn’t found that bug and worked it out.
The Problem With AI
The problems seem to be repetitive and always different with Facebook.
Whether it be the algorithms or it’s buggy nature, the feeling it gives it’s users, at least me, is that someone on the other end has targeted me and is harassing me.
The answer to which I ask myself constantly. More than I should. Maybe that’s the point, to annoy me.
When you try to have AI do a little too much, it results in you going as far as to sync with other apps so AI can advertise things that they’ve talked about in other apps.
It goes as far to say that people think AI is listening.
Listening or reading our minds, who knows. Facebook is advanced enough to be experimenting with brain mapping. And I would doubt they would tell us.
The one thing I know is that on my iPhone, Siri is integrated with everything.
You can turn Siri off, but when you go into an individual apps settings, there’s a Siri option, which involves how much you let Siri be a part of that apps data. It’s always turned on.
So is Facebook getting data from Siri? I would say the vote is out and that’s a big yes.
The issue? Siri is also interacting with other apps on top of Facebook. Siri checks your usage and gives suggestions based on your activity.
So it knows a lot.
It wouldn’t surprise me for Siri to report that back to Facebook. Only Facebook knows if that’s possible.
That could be marketed as a great convenience, with Siri and Facebook knowing everything about you. Hell, they could predict anything.
Facebook knows that crosses the line though.
The issue is, Siri is listening at all times, and logging that data.
Manufacturers argue that devices that operate by voice command aren’t listening until you say the key word.
That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. People buy that?
In order to hear the damn word you have to be listening in the first place! That would mean every word it knows.
It’s more than Siri trying to be convenient. It’s just trying to get as much data as possible.
Facebook wants to assure its people that buy advertising that they outdo the competition on targeted advertising.
Gloating that you have software that knows the most intimate details of the person is definitely a perk.
When spending money on ads, there are so many social media apps to choose from, the one who has the most data on its users is going to win every time.
What To Do?
Facebook needs support. They need a live chat. They can afford it, but frankly people would have too many questions.
I really hope this kind of stuff gets fixed, because I’m tired of wondering what it is on my internet connection that is causing these problems.
