Who doesn’t love Disney Plus? With over 42 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada it is one of the most watched streaming services available.

You may be having some issues however, so you landed here. The sound may not be working properly with your Apple TV.

Disney Plus may not have sound with your Apple TV due to audio settings, the connection, or a problem with the server.

Most of the issues that arise are easy to fix, so don’t worry.

We will run you through a series of things you will want to take a look at or try in order to find the problem and solve it quickly. Let’s get started.

Troubleshooting Disney Plus

The first area we will take a look at is the Disney service itself and the settings within.

We will try some of the easier options first to narrow down the problem and see if it’s a simple fix.

Switch Shows

First, try switching to another show on Disney Plus to see if this clears up the sound issue. If it does, there is a problem with the program airing on the specific channel in Disney Plus.

Switch Streaming Services

If different Disney Plus shows are acting up, try another streaming service. For instance, put on Netflix and see if you have a sound problem. If it clears up the issue, the problem is with Disney Plus. If not, the problem likely lies within your connection or your Apple TV.

Log off and Back On

If you haven’t already, try logging off of Disney Plus and logging back into the service to see if this fixes your sound problem. Sometimes a fresh login resets some unwanted settings within the application and gives you a fresh start.

Lower Your Streaming Quality

If you have a slower internet connection or your connection can’t seem to keep up with the Disney Plus service, it is worth trying to lower the quality of the stream to see if this helps.

To do this:

  • Open Disney Plus
  • Open Profile
  • Open App Settings
  • Select Save Data

This will put the streaming mode in “Save Data” mode, lowering the quality of the stream and lowering the amount of data that is required to be processed for you to get a picture with proper video and sound.

Update Disney Plus

This can be done in the Settings of your Apple TV. In your Apple TV Settings:

Go to Apps

Turn on Automatically Update Apps

This will begin the process of updating all apps that need to be updated.

Reinstall Disney Plus

The final troubleshooting step with Disney Plus will be to completely remove it from your Apple TV and then reinstall it. Sometimes this can work miracles!

Check Your Connections

There is nothing that can ruin a good sound experience better than a bad connection. This can lie in a couple different areas you will want to be sure to check out in your troubleshooting.

Check Your Internet Connection

Checking your internet is always a must when you are having problems with any device connecting to the internet.

Be aware of any other devices that may be having issues since you monitoring these can often reveal a problem with your internet if more than one device is having problems.

Go ahead and reset your connection by turning off your internet for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in, giving it a fresh start as well.

See if this improves performance, since network issues can often be a problem with quality of streaming services.

Check Your Cable Connections

Simple as it sounds, many problems occur with a loose connection with your wires. Remove and reconnect all connections between devices and make sure that they are tight before trying your sound again.

Check Your Apple TV

The problem may lie within your Apple TV itself. There are a couple things you can check with this device to see if it’s the possible culprit.

Apple TV Muted

Very basic. Make sure your Apple TV doesn’t happen to be muted. Hey, it happens.

Update Apple TV

Your Apple TV may need updated as well as Disney. Doesn’t hurt to get this accomplished anyway.

To do this:

  • Go to Settings
  • Open System
  • Select Software Updates
  • Click on Update Software

Follow the prompts that pop up to finish the process.

Check Settings

Don’t forget to check your audio settings. Do this by going to:

  • Open Settings
  • Open Video and Audio
  • Select Audio Output
  • From there, select the proper Audio Output for your system.

Conclusion

Disney Plus may run into some sound issues while using it with Apple TV. However, as you can see, most of the fixes to the problem are easy to handle and quick as well.

Hopefully one of these steps helped solve your sound issue. Enjoy streaming!
